You try getting laughs with shock humor, then say it isn’t easy. Sure, Cyanide and Happiness can be crude, but who cares? No one is getting hurt, and you’re a click of a button away from never reading one again.

I have to agree, and the two big reviews of the recent Sinfest story lines have pretty much clinched it for me. I don’t know what has happened to Tats, but this sudden shift from subtlety to heavy handed preaching, and he’s even in the comic now making strawmen versions of arguments that people have presented both on the official forum and elsewhere in criticism strikes me as the guy has fallen into some kind of attitude elitist self-importance. The fact that nearly every new strip recently has shown that through Slick only reinforces it. But ironically the strawman has a point. Slick’s advice to ‘Nique that she might try being less antagonistic and go for a more subtle approach is shown as bad, even though it is very sound and logical, and Tats keeps trying to portray this as Slick blaming a victim type of scenario when it is anything but that simple. If anything, Nique’s lashing out in anger against Slick makes him the victim as much as she’s supposed to be.

On the other side of the coin, Tats has gone to great lengths in the comic to reward his most fanatical supporters by canonizing their pet name for Trike Sue (it’s Xanthe now).

And yes, I too will likely stop reading for a while.

I’ve found Sinfest to have become far too preachy. There was already a great element of subtle social commentary, but now there is no subtlety anymore, and the preachyness has become more important than the fun. So I will probably not keep reading.
